Citrus Cafe

So as announced earlier here is a little something something on last night (that sounds wrong/weird... anyway!). So last night Gerrie gets a call from a girl he met at somebody's tutor's birthday (following?) and she was going to be playing at this place, shitorasu or something, with her band, if we wanted to go. Well live music is always good, but staying at home in pj's with a nice cuppa tea was oh so tempting! In the end I went and I really am glad I did! Shitorasu turned out to be Citrus, as in Citrus Cafe, this place in Sumiyoshi, an area of Nagasaki close to the uni where there are lots of bars and stuff. So we walked in, and we seriously should have thought about changing our outfits before we left, because it was this really hip place, and we were there in whatever we had just been wearing that day (of course we are always fashionable, duh, but you know!). The music was really funky as well, it has been a while since we went into a place and just had fun right from the start! A bar can't go wrong of course when they have Malibu Cola available, but hey ;). So after a drink and a good look around we went up to the second floor where this band was supposed to play. The band turned out to be a really funky jazz band, doing several famous covers and giving it their own twist, like Just the Two of us (Will Smith!?) and Englishman in New York and stuff.. I don't know what those songs are really called, but if you know them, you know which ones I mean ;).

After they finished playing we went back downstairs because the music there was just begging to be danced to! And that's just what I did, really felt like having a dance night. Then all of a sudden out of the blue this Japanese girl comes up to me and just says "let's dance!". Now not in a dirty way you little perverts, but just interested. She asked me all sorts of things, then introduced me to her boyfriend who had joined us, and then all these friends of hers came and took a good look! Seriously had a lot of fun with those guys. One of them, this guy called Makoto, he apparently likes the same music as I do, which was so cool to hear, he even knew some non-Japanese bands and stuff. So I danced and chatted with them practically until closing time. Makoto and the gang left a little before that because some of the had to work the next morning. Anyway, it was seriously fun, and exactly what we needed. We needed to find a cool place to go out. Too bad it's not always like that according to Mariko's tutor (who happened to be there and be plastered) but not sure what to believe exactly. We'll just have to go there again sometime!

see ya!

Just The Two of Us is by Bill Withers, Will Smith did a cover, then Dr. Evil did a version in Austin Powers. Englishman in New York is by Sting, formerly of Sting & The Police.

awwwww man I asked Mads about Citrus Cafe and he said he knew it too. It sounds like so much fun!

It's a live house, right? *envy glopping over edges* I wish I were there with you.

The Nara/Kyoto stories and photos are very nice, but I still especially enjoyed the movie of Gerrie being chased, err followed, by the deer <3 so lovely.
