Freudian Slip

Well, I don't think I'll ever be able to actually work with this quote, but as it's funny, let's start with it anyway!
A Freudian slip is when you mean one thing but you say your mother

Thanks Sebastian! :)

So, back to business. I don't think I told you about the party I went to on saturday, did I? Well, there was this party at BodyIISoul, where I had been before. This time it was a birthday party for 2 people I didn't know, and well, it was more like just a regular party really! I must say it was a ton of fun. Got off to a bad start, but had some serious fun in the end! The music was decent, the people were fun... on our way there Claudia and I ran into some foreigners in the tram. They were drunk out of their minds already I think, and they are very funny drunks ;) One of the guys, Kai I think his name was, was "too gay to function" as Claudia put it, and I think he was the most entertaining thing that whole night! He would randomly pass by, dance with us, and move on. He drove some of the (straight) guys crazy pinching their bottoms and stuff. hehe. So funny. I met some of the people that Claudia had met a while ago, a very non-Japanese looking Japanese guy named Aoki, who really loves to dance, and he knows how! I mean the ballroom dancing kind of dancing. His friends are this group of Indian men who run/work at a curry restaurant. One of them is the owner, I got his card and we are definitely going to go eat there sometime, he apparently makes the best curry in town! Can't wait! One of the Indian guys decided to follow me around the (rather small) place though, which was a little creapy... My prince on a white horse tonight was Sahim, who very tactfully got rid of him for me, thank you! Other interesting bits are... well, I had a good chat with Kento, originally a friend of Sahim's. He's Japanese, very nice, got his phone number, hopefully soon a friend of mine! The night ended late, some people went on to Cybac, Claudia and I went home. I was pooped, and boy did I sleep!

Sunday was a good resting day, doing general chores (cleaning, washing etc) so that I would be ready for monday again! Monday came, and I was tired!! Haha. But I survived none the less. Tuesday I went to yume saito with Gerrie. I needed a few bits and pieces (finally bought a tin opener!) and Gerrie needed new jeans, so we had a look around for those, unsuccessfully, but fun nonetheless. Of course we had to stop at Starbucks before heading home, where we were going to watch a movie! We watched the movie with Kento and Lindsey (very american friend of Gerrie's). We watched this Japanese movie called Swing Girls. The complete randomness of this movie is ever so funny, and if you can ever get your hands on it, and you can appreciate a little randomness, then I can highly recommend it! After the movie Richard came by, Lindsey left, and we had a chat in Japanese with Kento while listening to music and stuff. The guys tried to get me to go to a 'go-kon', a singles party. This is when a few guys and the same number of girls get together and well, socialise. It's usually around 4 or 5 guys and girls. Well I don't know about that! Somehow it seems interesting to see what something like that is like... but the people I know ( Richard, Kento, Gerrie ) will be interested in the Japanese girls, and so I'd be left with the Japanese guys, whom I have NO interest in...hmm somehow it doesn't seem like fun!

The next morning (wednesday) was an early rise. We had to be at the university at 8:20 as we were going to Kurosaki Elementary school. The school is a 40-45 minute drive from the university, and apparently still part of Nagasaki City!! (yes, I checked, not just Nagasaki prefecture, Nagasaki CITY) We sort of knew what to expect this time as in how they were going to treat us, so it was less intimidating this time. Also, this was a very small school. All of the students together, from all the years, were probably still less than the one class of the junior high we visited earlier. So we arrived, got sent to a special class room where we found our name tags and a few memorabilia (our names on a pretty piece of paper and a short Japanese poem/saying. It reads: the sound of the heart becomes music or something). We were then taken to the gym where we were applauded by the whole student body, and we had to sit at our designated seats (our names were written on big poster thingies) and after the usual introductions etc etc we were off to make mochi! Not after a nice cup of tea first. The mochi making was with the 3rd and 4th years ( a combined class). When the kids came to get us to take us to the mochi making area, this one girl grabbed my coat, and she didn't let go if she could help it! Her name is Minami, and she was stuck to me practically all day! In fact, I ended up with every girl that I had spoken to that day attached to me and dragging me to all different places. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

The mochi making was different this time, they used this machine where you put the cooked rice in, and push it through. It practically makes the mochi for you. I got the idea that the pounding of the rice after that was more for show than for actually making the mochi. But it was definitely good mochi, and they made a ton of it!! After mochi making we were taken to the younger years where we got to play several "traditional" games. I played with some tolls, and played this picture/word game.

The kids had drawn various objects and then we spread out the cards over the floor, and one person called out the name, and you had to get to it as quickly as possible. I generally sucked the first round, having no idea what the words meant, and having no idea what the pictures were supposed to represent (sorry girls!). It was a lot of fun though! Little kids are easily entertained I guess....

After doing some calligraphy and having several breaks where we could help ourselves to coffee/tea and lots of yummy snacks (we were treated really well!!!) and finding a nice little mochi package by our bags, it was time to play outside as final activity. All the girls that I had met during the day decided they wanted to play with me and I had to be in several places at the same time, they were very demanding!! But it was a lot of fun, I'm glad they weren't scared of me, that's for sure. Last time I wasn't as popular with the kids, but maybe it's also because I talk more now. And the kid glued to my sleeve might have helped... haha. Anyway, it was a realllly fun day, I wasn't looking forward to it, but it was tons more fun than the last time we went to a school.

So that brings us to today. I just had 'oden' with Mariko, Maarten, Michael and Andy. We made it ourselves (well, Mariko and Maarten did :P) and it was de-licious! Oden is the stuff we had that Sachi brought to Nishi Machi a while back. Lots of yummy things boiled in a soup-ish thing. It's a typical winter dish here, and like I said, very yummy! And speaking of Sachi, we haven't been there in a while, so thinking of going over there tomorrow. We spoke to him via Skype a while back because he has bought a laptop and got internet and everything, but he doesn't really know how it works. Probably a good thing because he would be spamming us non stop otherwise :P

Anyway, sorry for the long story again, but I really enjoyed the vist to the school, and wanted to share.

ps: BodyIISoul pictures

Though it's hard to beat the Freudian slip of sebastian, here are some funny quotes, or at least I think they're funny, and I think Luuk would like them too :p.
"I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me saying "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals."

"what the fuck is wtf"
||
"-Girls are like internet domain names, the ones I like are already taken.
- well, you can stil get one from a strange country :-P"

Love, Thijs

I love being in New York, I love running the bum gauntlet down every street. God I hate those guys, man. The very idea they want me to give them the hard-earned money my folks send to me every week. Leech, get a job. My dad works eight hours a day for this quarter. I mean, the nerve.
