Pictureless Sunday

Pictureless Sunday huh!? Yes. I just wanted to tell you guys about my weekend, this time text only, I forgot to bring my camera along. If I do manage to snag a few pics from someone else's blog, I'll let you know!

So Friday wasn't very interesting, I can hardly remember what I did that day besides go to work... Saturday wasn't very different, besides the fact I went and did a little shopping (nothing for myself) and had a good ole Indian meal at Milan with Gerrie (no one else was interested in coming I'm afraid. Wait! I completely forgot, Friday wasn't as bad as I made it out to be. After work I decided I didn't feel like going home yet, it was around 8:30 I guess, so I contacted a friend who lives nearby, Nana, who I hadn't really spoken to since Cybac a lonnng time ago. It turned out he hadn't had dinner yet and was bored out of his mind and up for anything, so we went to a restaurant in the area, had some decent food, and ended up chatting the rest of the night, until well past 12! And this was all in Japanese mind you, my trusty electronic dictionary had run out of fuel, so with a little drawing and acting things out, we managed to have a really decent conversation. It was a little victory for me too, having the guts to just go and do that. I kind of hope I swept away shy-girl with the rest of my hair ;)

Anyway, Saturday passed with nothing special happening, and Sunday came, beach time! We had planned to go back to the Island, Ioujima, with a bunch of people, and that is exactly what we did! We brought lunch, beachtowels, and sunscreen, and off to the beach it was. I probably should have used that sunscreen though, considering how painful my back is at the moment... Well, it's not that bad haha, but it's a tad annoying. It was an awesome day though. Just chilling on the beach, Richard getting stung by jellyfish, paddling in the sea, walking for ever in search of a toilet, everyone hobbling along with painful feet from the combination of open blisters, sand and sea water. Joy! Haha, no seriously though, it was a great afternoon, with a decent enough dinner to top it off, and unfortunately no fire works. I decided I was too tired to hang around and wait for the fireworks that were supposed to happen at Dejima, and I think I probably should have stayed. I heard from various people it was really spectacular, and on top of that I missed a Wadaiko performance. So silly. I went to bed nice and early though, something I should probably do today since I have an early start and a long day ahead of me, so I'll leave it at this for now.

Good night!

Is Ioujima the same as Iwo Jima from the film "Letters from Iwo Jima"??? And if so, tell us some of the history of that place.

They're not the same.
