TGS続きまして・・・

LAUNDRY DAY! Time for trying a new coffee from the vending machine around the corner.. this one is semi-sweet, and a good morning (wake-up) shot!

Anyway, like the gamer/otaku that I am, I went back to the TGS on saturday. I went together with Peter who hadn't been that. After a walk around we soon went our separate ways, as he was more interested in playing soccer games and checking out booth babes whereas I was really only there to laugh at the otaku's and be wowed by the cosplayers. My goodness, I wonder how much time they put into making these costumes? Some of them were simple, but some of them were really amazing!!

On my way home I was pleasantly surprised by nano.RIPE, a really funky band. I actually bought their cd right there and then, the first of a shopping spree of cds ;)

Now cosplayers and otaku's can't keep me entertained all day so went home to change into something warmer (it was a bit cold yesterday) and went out to meet Vlad for dinner. After he showed up very unfashionably late with a million excuses (kidding Vlad ;) ) we went to have okonomiyaki! We had good fun cooking our own food ;) Okonomiyaki was followed by a stroll through night-time Roppongi which ended in a mexican bar XD

Sunday started with a bout of laundry after which I rushed to Shinjuku to meet Vlad again. This time he made sure he was on time, so much so he had time for a nap XD

Roxy had recommended some nice place to go visit so the plan was to go to Kichijoji and then on to Chofu. Now we never made it to Chofu, we stayed in Kichijoji all day. We meant to go see some of the temples but we ran into this awesome cd/dvd/game shop and got stuck there for half an hour or so! I love that place! I bought 6 more cds there haha (all japanese music btw). Anyway, after we tore ourselves away from the shop and passed a shrine that was closed (closed!? yes, closed) we finally found something really cultural. We visited a temple, a shrine and then we had enough spirituality for a day and headed to Inokashira park.

This park is amazing! It's really nice to walk among the trees with a pond with BIG Koi Carpers, duckies and turtles, watch the kids in boats and in the playgrounds etc. There was also ' animeland' going on, which was a load of rubbish. 3 stands with some anime junk and an out of tune choir. The art market was kind of funky though with lots of ' home-made' artsy stuff, very fun to look at (didn't buy anything).

After our big tour round the lake and art stands it was time for mochi! I had been eyeing the dango stand for a while and then I just had to have one. And boy was it good! Totally worth the wait, as was the maccha ice cream that followed it, nom nom nom.

We found the Ghibli museum there as well but unfortunately we weren't able to get tickets. You have to buy the entrance tickets well in advance at one of the Lawson convenience stores (they have one very conveniently around the corner but they were sold out anyway), so you can't get them at the museum itself. Well... we saw the building anyway!

By this time we had had it with Kichijoji and decided to head back ' into town'. Vlad suggested going to Tokyo Tower, so off we went! I hadn't realised monday was a holiday which meant half of Tokyo was waiting to catch a glimpse of the night time view from Tokyo Tower! We braved the line anyway which was well worth it. We had an excellent view of the embassy, har har har (insert inside joke here). I bought a Tokyo Tower Hello Kitty phone strap (ugly!) and a Meguro kitty strap (I don't get it...) too! Now you can hear me walking around the whole time, the straps have little bells on them ;).

So having only had mochi on a stick and an ice cream all day we were starrrving. After realising everything was closed we went to Ebisu to see what they had to offer there. Vlad dragged me to this little place with beer crates for tables and chairs with a make-shift grill outside and I owe him many thanks! That place was awesome (I need to get myself a thesaurus... can't help it everything is awesome!)!! The tsukune there is VERY close to being as good as Sachi's! It was a yakitori 'restaurant' meaning we had more food on sticks! De-li-cious. Had such a good time I didn't take any pictures, har har. Watched a bit of the HanaKimi special on tv as well (forgotten it was on!! :( ) but with no subtitles, no sound, and not being alone, I gave up. Will have to find other ways to get my hands on it, it looks like a LOT of fun!!

This brings me to the end of my weekend. Now someone has been trying to call me all evening, whoever you are, I'm sorry, my phone is being weird!! I keep trying to answer it but it won't let me :(

Good night

I'm sort of passing the point where I can quote back all the awesome (yes, we are single-word-vocabularized) things which you have 1. seen 2. done 3. eaten 4. bought, so that you realize just how awesomely lucky you are -I'm passing that point, to reach the point of ugly, sizzling, unrepentant ENVY of you being there, enjoying all that (even weird kitty phone straps which are secretly symbolic mysogynistic medallions, and even all those cosplaying otakus, all that sweaty lycra must make them smell just terrible) and so I envy envy envy you and will have to sit patiently and pretend there is no such place as Japan, where you are gallavanting about, so I can get *some* work done, maybe.

Love~~
Hugs~~
Kisses~~
Guilt trip~~
