What I've been up to

There's 3 things I haven't gotten round to telling you about yet: my bout of serendipity (did you really think I was going to leave you hanging? it was fun though!), my semi-gokon and last weekend.

I will free you from your curiosity (though I think most of you know by now). A while back I went to Australia (remember? :P) and I brought back some of my uncle's company's folders which I was to give to the Queensland Trade Office in Tokyo. So on the day after I came back from the Gold Coast I went over there during my lunch break and met one of my uncle's colleagues, Mrs. K. I gave here the stuff and she invited me to have lunch with her but we had to wait for a bit because she couldn't take her break just yet. She then introduced me to one of her colleagues, Mr. DT. He's a fairly young Japanese guy who happens to have lived in Brisbane for years and yeaers and speaks perfect ozzie english (<3). We have a chat the 3 of us but he just sort of keeps looking at me. I couldn't figure out whether I had something on my face or what. Anyway, the story came out and it turned out we had been on the same flight the night before. We sat in the same row, only a few seats apart. Haha. So he recognised me from that! (foreign girl in business class stands out more to a japanese person than one of many japanese men, so I sort of remembered him but it is so damn unlikely that I didn't even think about it). He also happens to live practically around the corner from me! Ow and through that meeting I got to go see Miyazaki. I owe you Mrs. K and Mr. DT! <3

Part 2! What was it again??? *scroll* oh yes, my semi-gokon (a gokon is a japanese multiplayer blind-date). My uncle had introduced me to an ex-colleague of his who lives in tokyo (I was going to say he set me up with but that has totally wrong implications!) who then organised a get-together of some young people (mostly girls) from his company to meet me. This in order for me to make some friends. The whole night was bizarely awkward and I don't think I made any friends (nor enemies, it just didn't 'click'). Had a good meal and some yummy drinks though :P But I don't think I'll be doing that again...

Point 3~! Karaoke. Way more fun than awkward meetings with people whom I don't know and who themselves have no idea what they are doing there. I went to karaoke with several girls from the embassy as well as some friends of friends etc. I got in trouble though because I didn't go to an embassy functien even though my supervisor had said it was okay and now one of my colleagues isn't talking to me but it was totaly worth it!! We had a "ladies' plan" and went there with 9 girls. We sang an odd mixture of english, japanese and chinese songs and as it was unlimited drinking for 3 hours it wasn't long before the costumes came out to play. Yes. There were costumes. No further comment :P

Point 4! What? you said there were 3! I lied. Didn't mean to just forgot about this part before: I actually had a really fun weekend last weekend! I went to see a cabaret-show by 2 dutch cabaretiers who did a walk-through of 100 years of cabaret which was really fun actually. After the show we (all the dutch people gathered for the event) went to a bar where everyone got 1 free drink. The beers there were pint-sized and I got 2 (one person went home and gave me his ticket). I then got another pint from someone and I hadn't had dinner yet. You can imagine I was quite 'happy' by then. So Peter (from the embassy) took me to a cheap sushi place near his house where we stuffed ourselves before heading to his house (a sakura house as well). His house is a bit of a party house and there were plenty of empty bottles lying around their common room. His housemates and a bunch of random people were about to go to a club when we got there so we said we'd go later. Good thing we didn't, within an hour they were back. haha. Club was boring. By that time though we were ready to go and so we went to Club Camelot (where I'd been before) and partied the night away. Literally. I took the first train back home and snuggled into my bed around 6am. It was awesomely fun, especially because none of it was planned (only the cabaret part). Though this meant I did not see much of sunday. Haha.

I want to say I'm not going to do that too often, but I am doing JUST that this sunday, when I go to Armin van Buuren. :D Peter and I managed to get Armin to be part of the Holland Japan year, which means we also got free tickets to his show. And there were spare tickets, so Michiel is actually flying in from Fukuoka for the concert!! We are going to have SOOO much fun! :D Waahhh~~~

Good night! :D
