And it all boils down to this…

I have re-written the first line of this entry several times, each time more melodramatic than the one before. So I scrapped it and I’m just going to tell you what I’m doing right now and what’s going through my mind. Right now I’m putting some of my music onto my laptop, I have organized all my cd’s, putting those I want to take into a case to take along. I can even go back a few days, let’s say a week. This is what my last week looked like. Or let’s call it the first week. The first week of the rest of my exciting life.

I had dinner out with Luuk (Teppanyaki restaurant Sakura – de-licious!), his parents took me out to dinner (I had wild duck pâté as a starter and some kangaroo and ostrich steak as a main course - yes, seriously). Of course the stuffing-myself-before-I-go phase wasn’t over yet. Monday I went shopping and bought some nice new summer Nagasaki-hot-weather-proof shirts followed by the Tanuki ‘constitutie borrel’ on Tuesday where I said goodbye to being a board member. I also said goodbye to lots of people that night, after some drinks, some Chinese food, a good chat and more drinks (all coke for me – I had to drive). As if all this food wasn’t enough, I had a very yummy girls night on Wednesday with Laura! We had the most gorgeously heavenly delicious brownies. Seriously, so good. Só good. Right Luuk? :P We had lots more snacks and things, watched Mean Girls and to top it off the most bizar movie I’ve seen in a long time: “Kinky Boots”. It’s a ‘don’t ask’ moment I think.
Right, back to my binge. Thursday was sushi night with Ruud and Luuk in Utrecht (yay!), Friday was a lot of beer at Stairway to Heaven followed by some good food with Peter, and that leads us straight to Saturday. Not only did I have crumpets for afternoon tea, I also had my mummy’s yummy chicken pie and a chunk of strawberry pie.

Here comes the best bit though, in this food gorge-o-rama: The best Sunday brunch, followed by a real English cream tea and… *drum-roll* mum made me Christmas dinner! With a Christmas tree, Christmas hats, crackers, turkey and all. The whole deal. That seriously was the best.

So, were you to ask me what I did during the first week of the rest of my exciting life? Eat :)

So now what. Well, I’m all packed. My suitcase weighs a nice 15kg, so technically room to spare, but it’s heavy enough as it is ;). I’m busy putting the last essential cd’s on my laptop, you can’t go anywhere without music! My camera is charging, my mp3 player is charging and I’m totally knackered. But I’m ready to go. I have checked checked double checked everything. I have my passport. Ticket. Lonely planet. Gum. And yes, I have a towel. I kid you not.

I’ve said good bye to my friends, my dad, my brother, my relatives… So now what rests me is to keep my nerves under control (doing good so far), getting some sleep tonight, and show up squeaky clean and ready to blubber all over everyone :P

Next stop: Japan!

“I’ll catch you on the flip side”
