the morning after...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIKO! :D

So as you can see today is Mariko's birthday, for which we are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate. We've sort of celebrated it already though :P Last night was a Shira's birthday, this Korean girl in our building, and so she had a little get together in the common room downstairs in our house. We sat around chatting and listening to really bad music (Maarten had put on Linda Roos en Jessica - for those who know it; for those who don't: really old, cheesy dutch music). This commonroom closes at 10, so it's not really an allnighter thing. We were all really energetic however, so we decided to go to Nagasaki's only club, " Ayer's Rock ", also to start the celebrations for Mariko's birthday. We finally managed to find a taxi who knew where we wanted to go (the trams stop going at 10:30 from here - so that was a no go) and then even managed to find the place in one go. Once inside I was rather disappointed. The only club in Nagasaki is TINY! And dark, and boring, and they were playing shitty music haha. They were playing this uber hip hop stuff with a bass that was so loud it made my ears hurt. Anyway, after attempting to dance for an hour to an hour and a half, we had sort of had enough. I had no money so couldn't buy anything to drink, so I DIDN'T DRINK! (aren't I good?) and so we found a taxi and headed home again. I haven't slept so well in ages! I was having trouble sleeping, so I was really glad to just sort of pass out last night. I didn't have class until 2:30 in the afternoon, so it was perfect!

This morning Claudia and I gave Mariko a cake with candles!! We went through a lot of trouble getting the cake with the totally not understandable lady in the little cake shop, so we were glad she liked it! We gave her her presents as well before we left for class, so I think she was a very happy girl :P

Other news is that I asked to join this writing class that Mariko and Maarten take, but the coordinator wouldn't let me. The teacher, Nagai-sensei, however, is really nice, and she could see I really wanted to take that class so she said I could always look at Mariko's stuff, and she would check the essays I write. Thank you Nagai-sensei :) Stupid Takano-sensei coordinator whatsit. No faith whatsoever. I'll show them!

Anyway, in a minute I'm off to a shabu-shabu restaurant for dinner, I've never done that before, so pictures and details will follow! I never found out what the sirens were for by the way. Guess it wasn't that serious after all.

HEY EVERYONE
I want more comments :P I'd like to say thank you to Thijs, Luuk, Sebastian and Leslie mummy person for the regular comments. Has everyone else abandoned me!? :(

Holler~~ ;)

Or did you mean more comments from _other_ people than the four you mentioned? :p. I could write more comments if you want, although I cannot promise they would be very valuable(in fact, they might be less informative than the 'whale comments' :-o)

Good for you Jennifer, you show that Takano-sensei!!! And good for Nagai-sensei too!
Shabu-shabu? Fondue with chopsticks? Do you have to pay a penalty if you drop your meat back in the pot of broth?
