Spring Vacation part 1: Nagasaki

長崎

Dear all, talk about a long time no see! Well, no fear, I’m back. Safe and sound. I’m terribly sorry it has taken me so long to post something here, but ever since I’ve gotten back from my trip I’ve been busy or too pooped to do anything. As speaking of my trip, I would love to tell you all about it, but I hardly know where to start. I can’t possibly write everything down. It would take me forever to write, and you guys forever to read. So I think I’m just going to do the highlights of each city I went to. Before I start on that however, I have put some pictures online of things I was up to before Luuk came to Japan but didn’t get a chance to write about. So it’s going to be a picture story thing for that part of the Spring break. Enjoy!

Before I start, here is the link to all the pictures: Spring Vacation!. If you are in a hurry or can't appreciate the great amount of effort I put into trying to squeeze 3 weeks worth of experiences into legible pieces, check those out.

So, first up is Luuk arriving in Japan of course!! He flew together with Andre (Claudia’s boyfriend) and Jettie (Gerrie’s girlfriend) all the way to Osaka International airport. From there Luuk and Andre did a very good job at finding a bus to get them to the local Osaka airport to fly them over to Nagasaki. In the mean time Claudia and I made our way to Nagasaki airport by bus. We were both so nervous, sitting there waiting for them to arrive. Luckily they were the only non-asians on their flight, they were easy to spot. Claudia and I literally jumped up and down and couldn’t wait for them to actually come out!
I took Luuk to Amu plaza for dinner and then we watched a movie at home by which time he was totally exhausted. Not too exhausted to wake up for a very yummy pancakes with strawberries and cream breakfast which I made him haha. Anyway, enough with the extremely detailed account, on to the highlights. In Nagasaki we did the standard tourist tour of the peace park, going to Dejima, taking a look at shrines and temples and that sort of thing. Luckily the Lantern Festival was still going on so I took Luuk to see that, and he was just as amazed as I was at the extreme flexibility and balance of these performers. Of course we had to make a few stops at the Starbucks as well, which was a general trend for the entire trip to be honest! Luuk and I also went to Cybac, which he absolutely loved. Games, you know ;) He was never able to beat me at the taiko game however, muahaha. Other activities included meeting up with Masa and other people and going to Nanak, and Indian restaurant we know the owner of, and of course, going to Sachi’s!
It just so happened to be Sachi’s birthday so the place was really crowded, there was cake, and happy faces all round :D This is where Luuk had his first taste of sashimi (raw fish). We also took a one-day trip to Unzen, the stinky place I went to with the uni a while ago. It was still stinky. Most remarkably we had the most splendid weather. We were out and about in just t-shirts it was so warm. How’s that for a change from dreary old Holland ;)!

ps: as I don't have more than 5 posts on a page, don't forget to check the last part of my journey, there are 7 parts to it!

[fixed a lot of typo's]
Wow and how scary was that bus trip up the mountain to Unzen! The bus driver was racing over all these really small roads with only a thin rope to keep us from falling down the hill! But the view was worth it! Please check it out at Jenn's pictures!

Cybac was awesome! I hate ping pong! Stupid game :P I've lost all the matches against Jenn! But she had practiced when she was young at school...not fair ;)

*dreaming of strawberry pancakes*

It half makes sense? the first part doesn't really, thought I think I know what you were trying to say. Part 2 doesn't maken sense. Part 3 makes perfect sense. So I can guess you can sue babelfish one third and a bit or so....
