Luckily for us the next day was absolutely gorgeous and we had a wonderful time in Miyajima. Its beauty never stops amazing me, and that day was especially nice with the sun making the water shimmer. Luuk made friends with the deer and pulled a Gerrie (getting chased by deer because of food) after which we climbed alllll the way to the top of moun Misen, the highest mountain of the island, giving us the most incredible view. It was a beautiful clear day too, so we could really see far. Nice! On the way I had a Ramune, a traditional Japanese kiddies drink. The fun thing about it is opening it. You take off the cap, turn it round and then place it back on to the opening which is blocked by this little ball.

Spring Vacation part 3: Hiroshima
広島
In Hiroshima we met up with Daan Daan Daan! And hopped straight into an izakaya to do a nomi-houdai; where you can have as much to drink as you want for a set time and a set price. Excellent! Both Luuk and Daan had quite a lot to drink, and managed to convince each other that Amsterdam was a country.
I just sat back with the popcorn so to speak. I can’t believe they ate raw octopus too. Brave men! The next day we initially planned to go to Miyajima, but it was so windy that the ropeway was closed, as we were informed by the tourist information center. So we toured Hiroshima instead. We did the usual A-dome, peace park, museum tour (the museum is still nauseating, very very vivid displays) and then headed for Hiroshima castle.
By this time I was quite exhausted from all the walking and we them stumbled into the Yamada denki where we extensively tested the massage chairs! Nice! There was also a funny old man riding this rodeo style massage thing. VERY strange. Must refer to Luuk here for a video of the happening! After spending a rather long time in Yamada Denki, with Luuk and Daan checking out the electronics and Luuk buying this strange little racing car (it’s tiny) we finally decided it was time for dinner and went over to okonomimura (okonomi town) which is a big building full of ONLY okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake thing) restaurants.
There are 2 main styles of okonomiyaki, Hiroshima and Osaka style, so being in Hiroshima, we had a go at the Hiroshima style one, which is basically 2 thin egg pancakes with noodles in the middle.
Not half bad, and very welcome after our long day of trampling around. From there we took the elevator up to the Karaoke place where we had a good singing before heading back to the hotel again, to revive for Hiroshima continued.

You then hit the cap, which has a thingy that will make the ball drop, and tadaa it’s open. This is really hard to explain, so I hope I will be able to show you with a video that was made.
