So no one noticed the pretty picture I added to my blog? That's a little bit sad haha. Anyway, here's another review of what I've been up to since my last post!
My weekend was filled mostly by taiko practice. I'm starting to get a little fed up with the people there (they almost always call us gerrie-tachi, which sort of means Gerrie and co) and this one lady had the nerve to invite Gerrie to this thing when I was sitting right next to him! Gerrie was kind enough to ask her if I could come along as well, which was ok I think, but these kind of incidents really happen too often. I do however still really like the taiko playing itself, so I guess I put up with these things. And not everyone there is like that, but it just gets to me sometimes. One piece of good news on the taiko front is that the 28th of July we will have a rather big performance, and if all goes well I will be a part of that! Yay! A VERY big maybe is that MAYYYBE my mummy will be there to see? *looks up at mummy with big puppy eyes*. Anyway, this includes various taiko songs where I play different instruments, and we also started learning this dance to an old fisherman's song, which looks a little ridiculous sometimes, but seems quite fun to learn! I'm excited!
Monday and Tuesday was back to class with not really anything special going on, and after that I was free for the rest of the week!! I usually have Wednesday's and Friday's off, but this week we all had Thursday off as well (special day at the uni) and so I have a 5-day weekend, awesome! It was well spent too. Watched Charlie and the Chocolate factory (both of them) with Maarten and Andy, did LOTS of homework, and made a start on my end of year report. It's this relatively huge thing we have to write, in Japanese, that everyone really isn't looking forward to as we have to present it at the end of the semester too, yikes! Anyway, mine is about taiko, in case you're interested :)
A few other bits and pieces are going to Jazz night with a few people, we went by bike! I studied all by myself at Starbucks which turns out to be a sort of study haven, it's really nice to study there. I went to a Japanese friend's house which was a little special I guess (I was his second guest ever haha - given he hasn't lived there very long ;) ). And now, after posting this blog, I'm back to writing my report. Coolness~
Before I wrap up, this is already becoming way too long haha, let's talk about the weather. Not trying to make small talk or anything, but it seems to be a oft talked about thing here lately. All my classes start with: it's warm isn't it? When I meet people it's: the rainy season will start any time now. That sort of thing. Rainy season here (starting about now, lasting for a month or so) means temperatures above 25 degrees, and a humidity so bad you feel like you can swim in the air. Horrible much? yes! I think that soaking I got (see previous post) will definitely not be my last here!!
