Catchup

So here's a quick catch-up on the last few days... What did I do... back to friday I guess! I picked up my phone from Kim's uncle (I'm borrowing Kim's phone) who very kindly took me out to lunch to this amazing tonkantsu restaurant in Roppongi. It was awesomely delicious! After that I met up with Chiel and Alex and wandered around Tokyo station (which looks like Amsterdam Central) and after them having lunch we decided to go to Odaiba (Tokyo Bay). This meant taking the monorail, which was awesomely fun!

After making a stop at the Fuji (televison company) building...

... we walked to the big Ferris Wheel, which we then had a go on of course:

Which was followed by a fanta shaky-drink and some purikura taking :D

Saturday I met up with a Japanese girl I met in Leiden, Ayumi. She's a friend of Roxy's and happens to be living in Tokyo so we decided to hang out! She took me to the Mori Museum in Roppongi first which was AWESOME! We went to THIS exhibition which was totally weird and wonderful and gruesome and lots of things all at the same time. It was really cool though, the entrance ticket also got us to the city view: the building is round, meaning you can walk around and see all of Tokyo from the 45th floor or something!

After lunch we saw a bit more of Roppongi and then went of to Shibuya where after a quick visit to Loft and Tokyo Hands (2 -awesome- department stores that I will go to again sometime soon and spend and entire day in) we went to an izakaya for some beer and dinner.

Sunday came around faster than I thought which meant a preview trip to the Dutch Embassy:

On my way from the subway exit to the embassy I found: a starbucks, various bakeries and little restaurants. Looks like breakfast/lunch to me! The embassy is realllly easy to find so no problems there!

Onwards to Harajuku where I met up with Michiel and Alexandra again to laugh at the weird and wonderfulness of cosplayers. That was the plan anyway. I guess they heard we were coming so decided not to show up. All we found was this crazy guy (wearing a japanese girl school uniform and an apron of some sort...). Wandering down Harajuku street was fun, but it was a bit of a let down.

BUT! Michiel and I tooootallyu made up for it. We left Alex to shop in Harajuku and went off to: the Park Hyatt Hotel!! This is the hotel where Lost in Translation was filmed. We happened to be dressed pretty decent and so we went on over to Shinjuku, found the hotel, and walked in like we belonged. It was so much funnn!!! We took the elevator to the 52nd floor to the "New York Bar", ordered ourselves a suntory whiskey and enjoyed the view in this awesome, awesome bar. It looks JUST like in the movie, it's amazing!!! We both LOVE the movie and just being there was incredibly exciting.

Dinner was in another shibuya izakaya, excellent stuff. I think you've had your fair share of spam now. Tomorrow is my first day at the embassy, so good night!!
