Good morning/afternoon everyone, depening on where you live :)
I got an email back from my tutor, Kenji! I had emailed him saying who I was, and what my email address was etc., so that he could contact me. I had done this in my best Japanese (with a little help from Mariko) and I got an email back in English saying we should communicate in Japanese. I have no clue what this guy is on about! Either way, it turns out he's in Fukuoka right now and won't be back in Nagasaki for a few days. Realy useful, my tutor. So I guess I won't see him until next week. Oh well.
Yesterday after our trip to the city hall and my pathetic attempt at uploading pictures ( I have done better today, see the link on the right!) Mariko and I returned home, I did some washing (we finally figured out how the washing machine works ;) ) and in the evening we went out. Well technically I uploaded pictures, went home, did washing, came back, uploaded more pictures, then went out, just for the record.
So, Mariko, Ruben and I went off to Nagasaki station, where there is a big shopping centre as well, with a whole floor for restaurants and things. When we were at the izakaya (the bar place) last time we met the owner of a different one, so we thought it might be a good idea to go there. We had to eat first though, so while the others went home, the three of us had dinner out, which was very yummy! We then went to the izakaya where we were going to meet the others later. We ordered what they called cocktails, but it was really just fruit juice in a long drink glass if you ask me... Anyway, the others came, we had fun, and then at 11 we had to go home, because the place was closing and the last tram is at 11:03 ;)
When we got back I resized a selection of pictures so that I could upload them faster and more, so that is why there is now one picture link. Go take a look!
5 oktober:
Today I first went back to city hall with Mariko and Claudia to get a piece of paper with which I can open a bank account. I'm not sure yet whether I will, it's basically only for a mobile phone, but at least now it's possible, should I want to.
At 13:00 we had to be back at the uni where Takano sensei explained our classes to us, and gave us our schedules. This was also based on our placement tests. I have the same schedule as everyone else basically. Only Mariko and Maarten have some ' higher level" classes and Andy, who is a 1st year student, has some extra classes, so in general I'm happy! I have conversation classes, kanji class (was optional - thought it would be a good idea!), reading, writing, everything really, and 1 culture class, but that's only 5 times this semester, it's 5 excursions. So lots of language classes, nothing else. But oh well. I'll show you my schedule some other time :)
So now I've uploaded all my pictures, I still have to add descriptions, be patient but lots to see! You'll see my room is looking slightly cosier than before. Also, I should be getting another box today, so I have plenty to do this afternoon!
mata ne!
Jennifer
ps: the descriptions are done! (not ALL, some speak for themselves etc), so when you look, do slideshow or something, then you can see them. Enjoy!
