Forces of nature

I survived a typhoon AND an earthquake this weekend! Ok so the typhoon didn't really hit (it rained really hard on friday and then it was really sunny saturday so that my washing would dry). But there WAS an earthquake at 7:20am sunday morning. I know because I was awake. Awake that early? yes. On sunday? YES! :D

So after friday night's party I was exhausted saturday so I did laundry day XD. However, saturday night Claudia calls me! Claudia!??!?!?!? Yeah, my MEXICAN friend.

I know her from high school in the Hague, she lives and works in Mexico and is now in Tokyo for business! So we decided to meet up on sunday, however, she had to work from 11am onwards and wanted to go to Asakusa before that. So we met up really early XD We did Asakusa in about half an hour or so before heading over to the mexican festival that she was here for.

The was a lot of little market stands with mexican goodies (tacos, tequila etc) and some dancing and music all over the place. Unfortunately it started pouring with rain and I did not feel like walking around in the rain OR going home, so I decided to go help out! Claudia's stand promoted Mexican produce and gave away free samples of everything (including tequila!). So I helped prepare the little portions of various meats, guacamole, cactus stuff and god knows what, of course tasting everything myself along the way! Great fun actually, dancing to mexican music with the guys in between and stuff. I had a great time!

Monday it was back to work only for tuesday to come: national holiday, banzai! So I met up with Ayumi again and we first went to Shibuya to buy me a rice cooker. I wanted one I could use in holland as well because otherwise it's a bit of an expensive purchase for just 3 months (I resent Sakura-house for not just having one here! It's ridiculous!) but they didn't have one there. They sent us over to Akihabara where we were welcomed by some lovely guys:

Once inside one of the biggest electronic stores of Tokyo of course it became apparent there is no such thing as a rice cooker that works in Japan AND overseas. It's either or. The bastards! Anyway, ended up buying myself a little rice cooker for here anyway, went home and made the best Jenn-butakimchi-don ever. Srsly. :D I also got myself a membership at Tsutaya (dvd-rental place) where I rented the first dvd of a drama series called ' suna-dokei '. I happen to be reading the book too, haha.

After having braved the forces of nature over the weekend, I overcame one of my own more personal issues: fish. We went to a sushi restaurant for lunch today and for the first time in my life I had scallop sushi. And octopus sushi. And some white fish sushi. And some red fish sushi. Now all was well, up until the red fish sushi, haha. My body can only take so much fish I think XD I was proud of myself though! Silly little no-fish eating me ate (and enjoyed!) some real japanese sushi. Yay for me! Banzai!

On a final note, for those with a sense of humor (unlike someone I know *kuch*g*kuch*) here is the reason why I was in a club eating a krentebol last friday:

KRENTEBOL!

Oh tequila!Mijn favoriet!hehe!
