Day 4 at the embassy already! Time flies when you're having fu...working hard! Boy o boy what a week! Tomorrow is seriously a TGIF XD
(otsukare-dinner: umeshuu, sushi, zarusoba stuff)
My work at the embassy is starting to take form. They have discovered the fact that I'm a native English speaker and are using my language skills to its full potential. I spent tuesday translating Japanese cards for one of my colleagues, followed by " crtitically reviewing" a report on a ' promising sector ' in Japan. This is sort of what I do, I do little mini projects for now. I am helping the department prepare for the arrival of the minister of foreign affairs next month with odds and ends in between. Yesterday I met another new intern at the embassy, a girl called In-Ying. NO idea if that's how you spell her name, either way, she's nice! She actually studies Chinese in Leiden of all places, though we never met back in Holland. She is an intern at another department, but today we had lunch together which was really nice. In fact, tomorrow we are going clubbing together, woo! TGIF indeed!
(My " office ")
As for today, it as a looong day. In the morning I got up early to go to the city ward office whatever place to get a piece of paper proving where I live (meaning: writing down my address and then they say ok) so that I can potentially get a phone contract that will allow me to text (the phone I borrowed only calls - but it's a phone you say~!? yes well, I like to send and receive text messages too, so there) and then on directly to the embassy to work on a power presentation. Today a Dutch company visited the embassy to present their products to the Japanese market. This meant a lecture, a " touch and feel" session (yes, that's really what they called it) followed by a reception. The reception was held in the Head of the Economic Department's home (right next to the embassy). My goodness he has some view!!
(Right by Tokyo tower!!)
Anyway, there was lots of VERY yummy food (yay food!) and lots of interesting people (companies, journalists etc) so I had a good chat and started my meishi (business card) collection XD.
And now: my feet hurt. Good night!
