サッマリー <3

ただいま~ Wow, it's been a while. A good while mind you, been too busy to write even! How bad is that. So now is the time to fill you all in about my wonderful adventures. Last time we 'spoke' I had rented movies. GeGeGe no Kitarou is weird. Really weird. Tada kimi ga aishiteru is cute but very Japanese-y drama. And Summer Time Machine ... well what do I say, the title says it all! Tsutaya doesn't have dvd 3 of the drama I was watching so that's been put on hold...

Back to the real world though, watching movies and dorama isn't all I do! Well, sort of. I went to see the new Ghibli movie last week wednesday(崖の上のポニョ - Ponyo on the cliff by the sea) with Ying Ying, Asuka (friend of YY) and Ayumi. After we had an otsukare-beer of course. Movie is VERY cute, go see it!

Thursday was a whole different kind of fun, I went to Yokohama to the Japan Aerospace Convention with Jurrien from the embassy (for work). We went by embassy car, very luxurious :D Didn't see much of Yokohama itself but saw lots of aeroplane and helicopters (and all the parts they consist of). The idea was to go support the Dutch companies present (we helped by drinking their beer and eating their borrel hapjes - you're welcome!). Met some very interesting people!

The fun keeps coming though. Friday there was a 'borrel' (drinks thing) at the embassy. I met some of my uber sempai there! Erik van der Molen and Ad Timmering. Sempai are my 'seniors' of the study so to speak, that was really fun. At the drink they served Heineken and lots of niblles and stuff, but mostly I talked with a Japanese lady who is engaged to someone who works at the embassy - she is a gynaecologist and so I got to talk to her about my thesis research! Of course I got her card so I can contact her later, yay! However, like I said, the fun keeps coming. The drinks at the embassy were followed by all you can eat Turkish food and more drinks, which were again followed by more drinks at another bar. Them married embassy people sure know how to party!

As tired as I was from the night before, I went out again saturday, meeting up with Peter (another inter) and some other people to go watch some baseball. I was pleasantly surprised to find out we were going to Tokyo Dome (!) to see Tokyo Giants versus Chunichi Dragons (!!)!!! I am a Dragons fan, having lived in Nagoya before, and to see them playing Tokyo was just awesome! Game wasn't all that exciting until the very last inning (involving home runs with players on bases for both teams) and in the end the Dragons won. Of course. :D Victory for me was celebrated (the others were mourning the Giants' loss) by going on an AWESOME rollercoaster. If you ever want to know what it REALLY feels like to have your stomach turned upside down and inside out - this is it. I loved it! :D I ended the day in Ebisu with Ying Ying at a little Japanese restaurant with LOTS of different kinds of Umeshuu - definitely going back there again, haven't tried them all yet ;)

Before I knew it it was sunday and I was heading to Shibuya to meet Ayumi. Our plan was to go shopping, so the first thing we did is go to 109 - that place is crazy! Stories full of "women's" clothing with the craziest fashion styles and different music blasting from all directions. They had the coolest shoes! Heels with a big toe seperation part, like the socks? WANT WANT WANT! Damn my big feet. Took a picture of snow boots instead.

So... enough of that, after a bit of lunch is was off to Machida to the BIGGEST 100 yen shop of Japan! Wahhh!! Well, it sure is big. No where NEAR as cute as the CanDO 100 yen shop in Nagasaki though. Stupid Daiso. Anyway, it was another experience and I somehow still managed to spend 3000 yen in a 100 yen shop (bought the AWESOMEST scone recipe book - including maccha scones! and Calpis scones! NomNomNomNommmm... andd..... lots of other really cool stuff like a bento box, a thing to make perfect onigiri and more useless lovely stuff). Back to the movie theater after that where Ayumi and I went to see DMC (for me again). It's still seriously fun. Go see it ;)

Wait, what!? Monday already? How'd that happen... Spent all day monday in Shibuya (WHAT!? yes, well, work related, I swear!). Tomorrow there's a reception I've helped organise and there were/are problems with the room etc etc bla bla so spent the day arranging that going back and forth between the embassy in Shibuya, finally got back to the embassy again at 6 and took the train to...yes. Shibuya. haha. I met up with Barbara and Jens! (Barbara is Thijs's sister and Jens is her bf. If you don't know Thijs, too bad! He's mah friend :D ). They're here on holiday, just arrived etc. So took them to an izakaya for food and drinks, followed by some games in an arcade, purikura (of course!) and then home to sleep zzz.

Today (tuesday) was more running around for the reception tomorrow, tomorrow is going to be more running and before I know it it will be thursday - start of the Tokyo Game Show! I was under the impression I was going to that, but now I'm not sure anymore. My name doesn't appear on any of the participation lists (which I get forwarded just to have it rubbed in mah face!?). Anyway, will see what I can do about this 'mistake' tomorrow, if I have the time...

Back to mah umeshuu now, then off to bed. Sorry about the ridiculously long post, I've even left out so much stuff! You'll have to check the pictures to get the full picture! (get it? ;) - lame, I know).
